Discovered at Vasco, the lateral Marcelo Cordeiro blossomed in the wider arena of Brazilian football. In his early career he passed through a series of small clubs. He showed that while serving as side, he still has great offensive power. He was the second top-scorer of the Campeonato Paulista Série A2, 2008, with twelve goals for Club Atletico Sorocaba. He drew the attention of Victoria, which hired him to dispute the Brasileirão 2008. On November 23, 2008, he scored a bicycle goal against Gremio, and finished the tournament as one of the team's top scorers with five goals.
In January 2009, he reached an agreement with Internacional. He had many chances as the holder, being the immediate booking of Kléber the side-left, was also seized at halfback. Lamb scored three goals for Internacional, two of them left soon after entering for the second time in two games.
After the season, he hit his departure for Botafogo on loan and will remain at the club in Rio for a year. Alvinegro, when in Rio, has been noteworthy for his efficient offensive style, with frequent goals scored. With the support of relatives, who support the Fire, Marcelo has already said he wants to be remembered as "the shirt 6 Botafogo," hoping to honor another hero who wore the same shirt at Club Rio, Nilton Santos.
